Your Pets' First Appointments
Bringing home a new puppy or kitten is exciting, and their first veterinary visits are an important part of helping them grow healthy and strong. That's why our veterinarians recommend that puppies and kittens attend their first checkup at 8 weeks of age.
At Selkirk Veterinary Hospital, your puppy or kitten's first visit includes a comprehensive physical exam, parasite screening, deworming, and their first round of vaccinations. Between 8 and 16 weeks of age, most puppies and kittens require three to four follow-up visits to monitor their growth and receive scheduled vaccinations.
Flea and tick prevention is not included in the First Steps Plan. If you would like to add this protection, additional fees will apply. Please speak with your veterinarian to discuss the best options for your pet.
