Meet Lydia Gentry
Dr. Lydia Gentry didn’t take the straight path to veterinary medicine—and she wouldn’t have it any other way. A 2017 graduate of Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Lydia’s path includes time as a massage therapist, theatre actor, tick-borne disease researcher, and even a tour through the restaurant world. Each chapter sharpened her people skills, scientific curiosity, and ability to think on her feet—skills she now brings into every exam room and surgical suite.
Originally from the U.S., Lydia now lives in beautiful Salmo with her husband, son, and a charming crew of pets. The country life suits her well—whether she’s hiking mountains, dancing at a music festival, catching a flight for her next international adventure, or savoring a perfectly brewed cup of coffee (the bar is high).
In the clinic, Lydia’s professional passions include soft tissue surgery, dentistry, canine and feline reproduction, palliative care, and in-home euthanasia. She also provides relief services for small animal and emergency clinics, keeping her skills sharp and her perspective broad. Known for digging deep into her cases, she takes the time to understand the full story—animal, human, and everything in between—to find the right path forward for each unique situation.
Dr. Gentry looks forward to meeting you and your beloved fur family at the Selkirk Veterinary Hospital!
