Meet Dr. Helps
Dr. Evie Helps is an advocate for building meaningful client relations and positive patient experience, bringing a genuine love for animals to her practice. Graduating from the Veterinary Medicine and Surgery program at The University of Edinburgh in Scotland in 2020, she has since honed her skills working in her hometown of Parry Sound, Ontario and then on BC's Sunshine Coast before settling in the Kootenays in September 2024. Prior to her veterinary studies, Dr. Evie completed a bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Nutraceutical Sciences at the University of Guelph in 2016.
With a particular passion for surgery, preventative medicine, nutrition, and behavior, Dr. Evie is dedicated to providing the best care possible for her furry patients. She is also a strong advocate for fear-free handling techniques, recognizing the positive impact they can have on animal well-being.
Outside of her veterinary duties, Dr. Evie enjoys exploring the great outdoors with her beloved golden retriever, "Bunny". Whether mountain biking, kayaking, climbing, or downhill skiing, she finds solace and joy in nature. Growing up in both British Columbia and Ontario, her lifelong love for animals blossomed through her experiences as a horseback rider, shaping her into the dedicated and empathetic veterinarian she is today.
