Chiropractic

One result of the growth in the medical field is the rapid influx of therapeutic modalities such as acupuncture, botanical medicine, homeopathy, and chiropractic into animal health care. These health care systems represent divergent philosophies on health and disease and unique therapeutic approaches such as adjustment of the spine and insertion of needles into acupuncture points.

Chiropractic offers tremendous potential in animal health care. It belongs in the health care spectrum with medicine, surgery, acupuncture, homeopathy, and other such modalities. Chiropractic care does not encompass the entire study of health and disease, but it does offer alternative explanations of disease and provides complementary approaches. Chiropractic philosophy is based on the relationship of the spinal column to the nervous system and the role of the spinal column in biomechanics and movement. The basic principles of spinal manipulation are designed to correct minute changes in the joints in the spine that affect the nerves that leave the spine and so result in pain in those joints and various muscle groups in the trunk and limbs. Chiropractic treatments are performed in our hospital by local chiropractor Dr Kevin Mckenzie.
